Kathleen Bambrick Meier

Director of Operations

Kathleen came to Freedom Communities with a unique background that brings together skills in project and program management, writing and communications, accounting and financial management, research, community outreach, and construction. She has a variety of experience with other non-profits in addition to serving as VP & Operations Manager of a design-build residential construction company. At CrossRoads Corporation for Affordable Housing & Community Development in the Grier Heights neighborhood of Charlotte, she supervised and directed all aspects of the organization’s affordable housing programs and projects while ensuring seamless office and administrative operations. During her tenure, she successfully secured ~$1 million in grants for projects totaling nearly $4 million, which led to 15 unique affordable homeownership opportunities and an overall increase of neighborhood homeownership by 27%.  A wearer of many hats, her career actually began in local television news and eventually segued to documentary film in NYC and DC. Her best job is being a mom to her daughter.

Why Freedom Communities?

“Over the course of my seemingly disjointed career path, I’ve never lost focus on the human condition and doing something that matters. I now believe I was on a journey to amass my myriad skills to eventually end up at the right place at the right time. After meeting Hannah and then the rest of the FC team, I knew I wanted to be part of this innovative and holistic approach to family-centered community transformation.”

Hometown

With deep family roots in St. Louis, Kathleen was born in Iowa and was raised in Minnesota and Southern Illinois. She identifies as a “Midwesterner” but also has an undeniable connection New Orleans where she attended college.
