Mark Talbot

Director of Economic Impact

The need for increased affordable housing and the lack of economic mobility in Charlotte can feel daunting at times. But it’s a need Mark Talbot is tackling head on with strategy, experience, and rigor.

Mark is a Charlotte native. Born and raised in the QC, he understands the challenges the city faces and has a passion to see effective changes for our future. Luckily, he brings to the drawing board 25 years of commercial real estate management and development, along with almost 10 years of nonprofit work with youth in West Charlotte. He uses his knowledge and experience to help Freedom Communities invest and participate in Impact Investing ventures that disrupt the existing poverty systems.

Outside of FC, Mark serves as Project Manager for the development of the Three Sisters Market (a community owned grocery store being built on West Blvd.), serves on the Park and Rec Central Region Advisory Committee to improve and utilize the existing parks on the West Side and is a member of the Smart Charlotte Committee developing strategies for bringing Digital Equity to all communities in the city. He also participated in the Charlotte Leadership Academy in 2019.

Why Freedom Communities?

“The unique approaches of Freedom Communities can impact communities in ways that are not only transforming the whole person, but also able to sustain change for years to come.”
