Evelyn Minter
Board Member
A Charlotte native, Evelyn Minter has lived in the same westside neighborhood of Charlotte for more than 25 years. It’s given her unique perspective that drives her spirit to get deeply involved in the community.
Evelyn chairs the neighborhood’s Community Watch Committee. In this role, she partners with the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department as well as city and county agencies and businesses to advocate for new services and improvements to benefit the entire Charlotte community.
This work is personal for Evelyn. She serves as a mentor, life coach and advocate for anyone who needs a helping hand, especially seniors and children. She organized volunteers to partner with the Police Athletic League (PAL) to mentor and tutor inner-city children. A semi-retired Information Technology (IT) professional with more than 20 years of IT experience including 15 years in senior-level positions, she saw a digital divide with the children who participated in the program. She wrote a grant proposal to secure funding for a computer lab to support their learning.
She also serves as a board member of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Freedom Advisory Council and the Heather Glen Neighborhood Association. She volunteers at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church’s Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry.
